Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Ensures Safety for Kanwar Yatra Pilgrims

In preparation for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra during the holy month of Sawan, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting to ensure the safety and convenience of Kanwar pilgrims. Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and DGP Prashant Kumar met with senior officials from western Uttar Pradesh and four other states in Meerut to strategize for a safe pilgrimage.

Officials from neighboring states were urged to issue ID cards to Kanwar pilgrims. Pilgrims will not be allowed to carry weapons, and DJs are permitted as long as the sound is within legal limits. The Yatra will be monitored by CCTV and drones, with special attention to those carrying the national flag.

The Kanwar Yatra will start on July 22. Senior officials from Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan participated in the coordination meeting. A WhatsApp group has been created for all 12 districts of the Kanwar route, divided into two parts for senior officials and police station-level officers.

The route has been divided into five zones for security. Health camps and Kanwar camps will provide resting, dining, and accommodation facilities, with separate camps for women. Anti-venom injections will be available at health camps. Eight combined control rooms will be set up in UP and Uttarakhand.

Changes in the traffic system include banning heavy vehicles from the Yatra routes starting from midnight of July 21. Special security measures will be in place on the borders of Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan, with active dog squads, bomb disposal teams, and intelligence units. Liquor and meat shops along the route will be closed, and electric poles and transformers will be covered to prevent accidents. Camps will be set up away from highways and expressways.

Officials from other states have been instructed to provide ID cards to Kanwar pilgrims to ensure they can be contacted and assisted if needed. The villages and police stations of the groups of pilgrims should also be noted.
