On Monday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting with the Kumaon Commissioner, District Magistrates of Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, and Pithoragarh, and other officials to discuss the excessive rainfall in the area, the damage caused, and the ongoing relief and rescue operations. The meeting was conducted via video conferencing from Gopeshwar (Chamoli).

During the meeting, CM Dhami instructed officials to expedite relief and rescue operations, ensure mutual coordination among departments, and be prepared for all possible situations. He also met with local residents during his morning walk in Gopeshwar to gather feedback on the state government’s development and public welfare efforts. CM Dhami expressed that the positive feedback and suggestions from the locals inspire him to work dedicatedly for the state’s development.

Earlier, CM Dhami spoke with the District Magistrates of Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat over the phone to assess the situation due to heavy rains in the Kumaon division. He directed them to deploy the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams in the affected areas to carry out relief work swiftly.

The Meteorological Centre in Uttarakhand has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of the state until July 10, with extremely heavy rainfall expected in isolated areas of the Kumaon region. Thunderstorms with lightning and intense spells are likely on July 8-9 in the hills and plains. Heavy rains are also predicted in Tehri, Pauri, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, and Champawat districts for July 10. The state government has urged residents to stay in safe areas and remain cautious due to potential disasters caused by heavy rains.
