Chief Justice DY Chandrachud Talks About Technology in Courts at Chandigarh Conference

Chief Justice of India (CJI), DY Chandrachud, spoke about the importance of technology in ensuring justice for everyone at the National Conference on the Landscape of Technology in Courts held in Chandigarh. The event, organized by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, focused on various aspects of technology, including artificial intelligence.

Chandrachud called the conference unique and emphasized that technology should be a means of ensuring ‘Nyay Sab ke Dwaar’ (Justice for All). He mentioned that judges from across the country attended the conference, making it an important initiative to promote access to justice for common citizens.

The CJI also informed that the central government has allocated approximately Rs 7,000 crores to state governments to improve information infrastructure as part of Phase 3 of the e-courts project. He shared his personal journey from being a lawyer to becoming a judge, highlighting the lasting impact judges have through their written judgments.

When asked about the three new criminal laws, Chandrachud declined to comment, stating that challenges against these laws are pending in the Supreme Court.
