Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud emphasized that court buildings are not just made of bricks and concrete but are symbols of hope and justice. He made these remarks during the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for new court buildings in Karkardooma, Shastri Park, and Rohini Sector-26 in Delhi.

He stated, “Court premises like all buildings are not just made of bricks and concrete. They are made up of hope. Courts are made to realize the virtues of justice and the rule of law.”

The new buildings will be environmentally friendly, featuring greenery, shaded facades, natural sunlight, and rainwater harvesting. CJI Chandrachud noted the importance of addressing climate change and incorporating a green lifestyle to reduce carbon emissions.

He added that the new court complexes would expand the court’s capacity, alleviate case backlogs, and provide a dignified environment for all stakeholders. The buildings will be universally accessible and include structural safety features, making the judiciary more inclusive.

Supreme Court judge Seema Kohli, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Delhi Minister Atishi, and other justices were present at the ceremony.
