Chief Justice DY Chandrachud Leads International Yoga Day at Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of India celebrated International Yoga Day with a special yoga session at the Supreme Court Complex. Expert yoga teachers from Kaivalyadhama institute led the session.
Importance of Yoga
Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, spoke about the significance of yoga in maintaining a balanced lifestyle. He highlighted four key principles: ‘Siddhant’ (principles), ‘Samanvay’ (inclusion), ‘Sadbhavana’ (compassion), and ‘Sashaktikaran’ (empowerment). He also shared his personal experience of being a vegan, emphasizing respect for all living creatures.
Special Performances
Advocate Tejaswi Kumar Sharma, a specially-abled international champion in yogic asanas, performed an impressive set of asanas. Additionally, a team from the All India Institute of Ayurveda performed a yoga fusion dance. Dr. Tanuja Nesari, Director of the All India Institute of Ayurveda, gave a presentation on the connection between Yoga and Ayurveda, stressing the importance of a holistic lifestyle.
Cleanliness Drive
The event concluded with a special cleanliness drive at the Supreme Court premises. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, other judges, officials, and members of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association participated in the event.
