In Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Assembly Speaker and former Chief Minister Raman Singh announced that the state government, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is dedicated to eradicating Naxalism by next year. This statement came after two ITBP jawans were killed in an IED attack by Naxals in Narayanpur district.
Raman Singh highlighted the ongoing pressure on Naxalites due to joint operations by security forces, which have resulted in the deaths of approximately 190 Naxalites in the past year. He emphasized the government’s determination to eliminate Naxalism.
Tribute to Fallen Heroes
Chhattisgarh Minister Tank Ram Verma paid tribute to the two ITBP personnel, Pawar Amar Shamrao and K Rajesh, who lost their lives in the attack. He carried their mortal remains as a mark of respect and reiterated the government’s efforts to reduce Naxalite numbers since the BJP’s rise to power in the state.
Recent Encounters and Progress
The condition of two injured Narayanpur district police officials is improving, according to the Inspector General of Police for the Bastar Range. In a recent encounter, Dantewada police reported that 38 Naxal cadres were killed near the Dantewada-Narayanpur border, with 31 bodies recovered and identified.
