Chhattisgarh Helps Pahadi Korwa Tribe with New Homes
The Chhattisgarh government has started a campaign to provide concrete houses for the Pahadi Korwa tribe, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). This initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana.
Chief Minister’s Initiative
Following the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the administration in Balrampur district is working to replace the makeshift huts where the Pahadi Korwa families have lived for generations.
Better Living Conditions
Previously, these families faced problems like water leakage during the rainy season and threats from snakes and scorpions. The new concrete houses aim to solve these issues.
Financial Support
Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive Rs 2 lakh in four installments for house construction and Rs 12,000 for building toilets. The funds are directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Progress and Monitoring
District Panchayat CEO Raina Jameel mentioned that Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is closely monitoring the scheme’s implementation. Camps are frequently conducted to ensure timely benefits. So far, 2400 houses have been approved, with 150 already completed.
