Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Arun Sao Accuses Congress MLA Devendra Yadav of Non-Cooperation in Baloda Bazar Case
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], August 19: Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao has accused Congress MLA Devendra Yadav of not cooperating with investigating agencies, leading to his arrest in connection with the June 10 Baloda Bazar case.
Allegations and Arrest
On Sunday, Arun Sao stated, “You (Devendra Yadav) will carry the constitution on one hand and not cooperate with the investigating agencies on the other side. This shows his intention. Police have taken action as per the law and order.”
Chhattisgarh Police arrested Devendra Yadav on Sunday for his alleged involvement in violent clashes and arson at the Baloda Bazar collectorate on June 10. He is accused of inciting the Scheduled Caste Satnami community, which led to large-scale violence.
Evidence and Law Enforcement
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao emphasized that the police acted based on evidence collected from the scene. “We have seen and felt how the incident happened in Baloda Bazar, the way the car was torched to fire. Police have taken the action as per the evidence collected by the police on the spot,” he said.
He further added, “Whoever will disturb the peace in Chhattisgarh, the law will take its course of action. No one is bigger than law in Chhattisgarh.”
Political Reactions
Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel called the arrest “vendetta politics” and demanded a CBI inquiry. Baghel claimed that the arrest was made without proof and criticized the state government for its failure. “20 sections have been imposed against Devendra Yadav. It is an incident of June 10 and after 67 days he has been arrested. They have no proof. The arrest has been made with the motive of taking revenge. CBI inquiry should be done. The police & government did not take any action. This is a failure of Vishnu Deo Sai’s government,” said Baghel.
Another Congress leader, TS Singhdeo, mentioned that Yadav did not give a speech at the event and was not present on the stage because he is not from the Satnami community. “I got to know about this. As per my knowledge, people of the Satnami community called a public meeting which was attended by a lot of people. MLAs were also invited there, in which Devendra Yadav also came to the meeting. As the event was of the Satnami community, he did not give a speech and was not present on the stage because he is not from the community…Almost 160-200 people have been arrested in this case…The BJP president himself went there with the people of the community to get permission for the meeting. But no action has been taken on him,” said Singhdeo.
