On October 7, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended a meeting at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi to review anti-Naxal operations and development projects in affected states. The meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and included Chief Ministers from eight Naxal-affected states.

Successful Anti-Naxal Operation

CM Sai reported a successful operation by state police and intelligence agencies, involving around 1,000 soldiers. They surrounded the Gawadi mountain, neutralizing 31 Naxals, including 16 leaders with a bounty of Rs1.3 crore. The operation resulted in the deaths of 18 male and 13 female Naxals.

Development Initiatives

CM Sai highlighted accelerated development in Naxal-affected areas, focusing on education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, 32 new security camps have been established, including one in Hidma village.

Future Plans

The state government aims to eliminate remaining Naxal strongholds and ensure peace. Plans include establishing 29 more security camps in South Bastar. Amit Shah praised Chhattisgarh’s efforts and urged other states to adopt similar strategies. He also appealed to Naxal-affiliated youth to abandon violence, assuring rehabilitation programs are available.
