Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai Celebrates Major Victory Against Naxalites

In a significant development, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his happiness after 31 Naxalites were killed in a police encounter on the Narayanpur-Dantewada border. The operation, which took place over two days, was a major crackdown on left-wing terrorism.

Chief Minister Sai emphasized the state government’s dedication to combating Naxalism, stating, “Since we have assumed power in the state, we are continuously fighting against Naxalism.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to chair a meeting with Chief Ministers of Naxal-affected states to discuss further actions. The successful operation was a joint effort by DRG Dantewada, DRG Narayanpur, and STF teams, who acted on information about a gathering of 40 to 50 Naxalites.

Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai reported that a heavy exchange of fire occurred when security forces surrounded the Naxalites, resulting in the recovery of 31 bodies and numerous automatic weapons. Rai described the operation as their biggest achievement, despite challenging terrain and weather conditions.

Earlier this year, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that left-wing extremism would be eradicated from India by March 2026.
