Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai Vows to Continue Fight Against Maoism After Bijapur IED Blast
New Delhi, India – Following the tragic deaths of two security personnel in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast triggered by naxals in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his condolences and reaffirmed his commitment to eliminating Maoism.
Chief Minister’s Statement
Chief Minister Sai stated, “The Naxalites are perturbed by the campaign being run by our government to eliminate Maoism and are carrying out cowardly acts. The martyrdom of the soldiers will not go in vain. Our fight will continue till Maoism is eliminated.” He also wished for peace for the souls of the soldiers killed in action and a speedy recovery for the four soldiers who were injured in the attack.
Details of the Incident
On July 17, 2024, two security personnel, Constable Bharat Sahu from Raipur and Constable Satyer Singh Kange from Narayanpur, lost their lives, and four others were injured in an IED blast in the Tarrem area of Bijapur district. The security personnel were returning from an anti-naxal operation when the incident occurred.
Police Report
According to Bastar Police, the operation involved teams from STF, DRG, CoBRA, and CRPF. Additional security forces have been sent to the area, and necessary arrangements have been made for the treatment of the injured soldiers.
Recent Anti-Naxal Operation
On Wednesday, a significant anti-naxal operation was conducted at Wandoli Village on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border. This operation led to the deaths of 12 naxals and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, including seven automatic firearms. One police sub-inspector and one jawan were injured during the encounter but are reported to be out of danger.
