Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed grief over the tragic deaths of five people in Janjgir-Champa district. The incident is suspected to have been caused by toxic gas inhalation inside a well.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place in the village of Kikirda around 7:30 am. Ramchand Jaiswal entered a well on his property to retrieve a strip of wood. When he did not return, four others, including his two sons, entered the well to help but also did not come back up.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as Ramchand Jaiswal, his sons Rajendra and Jitendra, and neighbors Ramesh Patel and Tikesh Chandra.

Response and Investigation

Sub-Divisional Police Officer Yadumani Sidar reported that the Birra Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Bilaspur retrieved the bodies. A forensic team is investigating the cause of the deaths, suspected to be due to poisonous gas inside the well.
