Chennaiyin FC Signs Talented Goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz for 2024-25 Season

Chennaiyin FC has strengthened their defense by signing young goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz on a two-year contract for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Nawaz, who hails from Manipur, is a product of the AIFF Elite Academy and has previously played for Mumbai City FC and FC Goa.

Known for his quick reflexes, composure under pressure, and impressive shot-stopping abilities, Nawaz has earned a reputation as one of the most talented goalkeepers in Indian football. He has played 83 professional matches, keeping 23 clean sheets. In the Indian Super League (ISL), he has recorded 15 clean sheets and 150 saves in 65 games, including saving three penalties.

Nawaz began his professional career at 18 with FC Goa’s reserve side in the I-League second division. His excellent performance earned him a place in the main team, where he was crucial in FC Goa’s Super Cup and ISL League Shield-winning campaigns in 2019 and 2020. He later moved to Mumbai City FC in 2021, winning the League Shield in 2023 and the ISL title earlier this year.

At 24 years old, Nawaz brings youthful energy and exceptional potential to Chennaiyin FC. He joins other goalkeepers Samik Mitra and Prateek Kumar Singh, and is expected to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
