Chennai Protests After BSP Leader Armstrong’s Tragic Death
Chennai Police have formed 10 special teams to investigate the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Tamil Nadu president Armstrong. Armstrong was attacked by an unidentified mob near his home in Perambur, Chennai, and later died from his injuries.
Details of the Incident
On July 5, Armstrong, aged 52, was standing in front of his house when he was assaulted by unknown individuals with knives. Despite being rushed to Apollo Hospital, he was declared dead by doctors.
Police Response
In response, Chennai Police have set up 10 special teams under the leadership of Tr. Asra Garg IPS, Addl.COP (North), to investigate the motives behind the murder and arrest the culprits.
Public Reaction
Following the incident, BSP workers and supporters blocked a road in Chennai, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. A large crowd also gathered outside Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital, where Armstrong’s body was taken.
Political Reactions
AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami criticized the ruling DMK party, questioning the state’s law and order. He expressed his condolences and condemned the DMK chief for the deteriorating situation. BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad also called for the immediate arrest of the murderers, highlighting the worsening law and order in Tamil Nadu.
