Chennai Police Arrest 8 Suspects in BSP Leader Armstrong’s Murder

Greater Chennai Police Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore announced on Saturday that eight people have been arrested in connection with the murder of BSP state president K Armstrong. Armstrong was attacked by a mob near his home in Perambur, Chennai, on July 5 and died upon arrival at the hospital.

Rathore stated, “…8 people have been apprehended who we suspect to be involved in this crime. They are being questioned. Armstrong’s post-mortem has been conducted.” He assured that the situation in Chennai is normal and that the police will thoroughly investigate the case.

Rathore ruled out any political angle in the murder, adding that Armstrong had seven cases against him, all of which were closed after his acquittal. The police responded quickly to the incident, forming ten special teams and arresting eight suspects within two hours after reviewing CCTV footage.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai criticized the DMK government, stating, “Yesterday, a party leader was hacked to death. There is no guarantee for a common man’s life in this DMK-led state government.”
