Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 8: Charles Schwab, a global leader in financial services based in Texas, has chosen Hyderabad for its first Technology Development Center in India. This announcement was made by Telangana’s Chief Minister’s Office while Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is on a US visit.

Key Discussions and Commitments

The decision came after discussions between Chief Minister Reddy, IT Minister Sridhar Babu, and senior Schwab executives, including Dennis Howard and Rama Bokka, at Schwab’s headquarters in Dallas. The Telangana government has committed to assisting Schwab in setting up the center quickly by providing access to necessary talent and guiding them through formalities.

Government Support and Future Plans

Schwab’s executives have expressed confidence and enthusiasm about the collaboration, appreciating the proactive support from the Telangana government. They are awaiting final approvals to announce detailed plans and send a team to India to establish the center officially.

Telangana’s Global Outreach

On August 4, a delegation led by Chief Minister Reddy and IT Minister Babu arrived in New York. They plan to meet with business leaders in the US and South Korea over the next 10 days. During a roundtable hosted by the Consulate General of India in New York, CM Reddy emphasized Telangana’s readiness to be a key player in the ‘China Plus One’ strategy for American companies.

Investment Opportunities in Telangana

Reddy highlighted Telangana’s strengths in software, life sciences, and pharma, as well as its robust sectors in Aerospace, Defence, and Electronics. He invited global leaders to explore investment opportunities in ambitious projects like Future City, India’s first Net Zero Carbon city. The IT Minister also detailed policies supporting this vision, reiterating Hyderabad’s potential as a leading global investment hub.

Meetings with Global Leaders

Separately, CM Reddy met with World Bank President Ajay Banga to discuss various issues, including the Musi Riverfront, Skill University, Future City, and Citizen Health Care. Over 20 prominent CEOs and business leaders from diverse sectors attended the roundtable to discuss investment opportunities in Telangana.
