Chandrababu Naidu Talks About Amaravati Capital Region and Polavaram Project

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu released a white paper on the Amaravati capital region. He explained that the name ‘Amaravati’ was suggested by Ramoji Rao after research and chosen through a public poll. Amaravati was the capital of the Satavahana dynasty and has a chamber in the British Museum. Soil and water from across the state, including Parliament, were used for the foundation stone, laid by PM Modi.

Naidu recalled his tenure as the Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, where he developed Cyberabad in addition to Hyderabad and Secunderabad. He emphasized his efforts in developing the IT sector in Hyderabad, including a 14-day tour of America. The land pooling process for Amaravati involved 34,400 acres of land given by 29,966 farmers, with proper compensation provided.

Naidu criticized former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy for weakening the Amaravati project and demolishing the Praja Vedika. He noted that farmers agitated for the capital region for over 1631 days. Naidu also released a white paper on the Polavaram project, stating it is a central government project.
