Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Visit to India
Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, will visit India from October 24 to 26, 2024, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This visit is for the 7th Intergovernmental Consultations (IGC). Scholz has visited India twice in the past year, including for the G20 Leaders’ Summit.
Intergovernmental Consultations
On October 25, Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Scholz will co-chair the IGC, where senior ministers from both countries will discuss various topics. These include security and defense cooperation, talent mobility, economic cooperation, and green development. They will also address regional and global issues.
Asia Pacific Conference of German Business
Both leaders will speak at the 18th Asia Pacific Conference of German Business (APK 2024) in New Delhi on October 25. This event aims to boost trade and investment ties, with around 650 business leaders and CEOs expected to attend.
Visit to Goa
Chancellor Scholz will also visit Goa, where the German naval frigate “Baden-Wuerttemberg” and combat support ship “Frankfurt am Main” will make a port call as part of Germany’s Indo-Pacific deployment.
Strengthening Ties
India and Germany have a strategic partnership since 2000, which has grown over the years. This year marks 50 years of Science and Technology collaboration. Chancellor Scholz’s visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties.
