Champai Soren Joins BJP: Reactions from Hemant Soren, Sandeep Dikshit, and Pappu Yadav

New Delhi, India – Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has announced his departure from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This decision has sparked various reactions from political leaders.

Sandeep Dikshit’s Accusations

Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit accused the BJP of targeting ambitious leaders from rival parties. He stated, “Hemant Soren is the biggest leader there and Champai Soren was the acting CM. After Hemant ji returned, he was elected again. It is not right when he (Champai Soren) says that he is not getting respect. We have seen that BJP goes where they see someone who has high ambitions.”

Hemant Soren’s Response

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren responded by saying, “The people of the state will decide if there were any shortcomings.” This indicates that he is leaving it up to the public to judge the situation.

Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Announcement

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on social media that Champai Soren will officially join the BJP on August 30 in Ranchi. He mentioned that Champai Soren had recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Pappu Yadav’s Criticism

Independent MP Pappu Yadav criticized Champai Soren’s decision, stating that it would erode trust and undermine Hemant Soren’s leadership. He said, “Such behaviour will break the trust. The way Hemant Soren has trusted Champai Soren – instead of making CM to any of his family members, he made a party worker the CM. These are the behaviours and characters which lead to distrust of people in leaders…It’s a time when people will come and go but the SC, ST, OBC, Dalits community is more firm with Hemant Soren than ever before…”

Champai Soren’s Statement

Champai Soren confirmed his plans to join the BJP along with his son Babulal Soren. He expressed his faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He said, “Today I had started a new chapter. Initially, I thought of taking retirement, but later witnessing the enthusiasm of workers and the public, I thought of being actively involved in politics. Later, I also thought of forming a new organization, but due to time constraints and the unique dynamics in Jharkhand, I decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after much contemplation.”

He dismissed criticism from his former party, JMM, saying, “I don’t think it’s appropriate to respond. I have struggled a lot, and our history is evident in Jharkhand. But we will join the BJP.”
