Central Government Declares Hizb-Ut-Tahrir a Terrorist Organization

The Central government of India has officially declared Hizb-Ut-Tahrir (HuT) and its associated groups as terrorist organizations. This decision was made under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act due to their promotion of terrorism through social media.

Reasons for the Declaration

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued a notification stating that HuT aims to establish an Islamic state and Caliphate worldwide, including in India, by overthrowing democratically elected governments through jihad and terrorist activities. This poses a significant threat to India’s democratic structure and internal security.

The notification further explains that HuT is involved in radicalizing and motivating young people to join terrorist organizations like ISIS and raising funds for terror activities. They use social media, secure apps, and Dawah meetings to promote terrorism.

Government’s Stance

Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that this action aligns with the Modi government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. He stated that the government is committed to protecting India by firmly addressing terrorist threats.
