BJP Leader Daggubati Purandeswari Highlights Key Projects
The central government has allocated Rs 15,000 crore for Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget 2024-25, indicating a significant focus on the state’s development. Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Daggubati Purandeswari stated that the construction of Amaravati will be fully supported by the central government. She emphasized that the state has been without a proper capital for the past 10 years.
Purandeswari also mentioned that the central government will support the Polavaram project, which is crucial for Andhra Pradesh and has been declared a national project. She highlighted the importance of infrastructure for the state’s progress, noting the support for the Vizag-Chennai corridor, while also stressing the need for the state government to contribute its share.
Additionally, the central government has recognized Prakasam as a backward district, addressing a long-standing demand. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced special financial support to meet the state’s capital needs, fulfilling commitments under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. She confirmed the allocation of Rs 15,000 crore for the current fiscal year, with more funds to follow in future years.
Sitharaman also reiterated the central government’s commitment to financing and completing the Polavaram irrigation project, which is vital for Andhra Pradesh’s farmers and the country’s food security.
