In Srinagar, the workers of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) celebrated joyfully after the Election Commission’s data indicated that the pre-poll alliance of Congress and National Conference had crossed the halfway mark in the Jammu and Kashmir elections. According to the latest data, JKNC has secured 3 seats and is leading in 39, while Congress is leading in 6 seats.

Trichy Congress president L Rex joined the celebrations by distributing Kashmiri apples and bursting crackers. The J-K Congress chief, Tariq Hameed Karra, along with party workers, also celebrated at the party office in Srinagar.

The election results will determine the future of several former ministers, including Tara Chand, Muzaffar Baig, Raman Bhalla, Basharat Bukha, Omar Abdullah, Ravinder Raina, and Yousuf Tarigami. Former JK Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed confidence in the alliance’s position to win and urged the BJP to maintain transparency and not resort to any unfair tactics.

Meanwhile, Waheed Ur Rehman Para, a candidate from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Pulwama, highlighted the challenges ahead once the mandate is clear. He emphasized the party’s commitment to restoring Article 370 and statehood. Para is currently leading by 7,995 votes after 10 out of 12 rounds of counting.

PDP candidate Iltija Mehbooba Mufti, daughter of Mehbooba Mufti, is trailing by 5,067 votes. Despite her efforts, she accepted the people’s verdict and expressed gratitude for the support she received during her campaign.

Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri of the JKNC has taken the lead with 22,194 votes, maintaining a comfortable margin of 5,067 votes.
