In Agartala, Tripura, a rally was held to honor the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, celebrated nationwide as Janajati Gourav Diwas. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia attended the event alongside other leaders and officials. Vishal Kumar, the District Magistrate of West Tripura, emphasized the importance of development schemes for the Janajati people. Bipin Debbarma, State Secretary of Tripura BJP, expressed joy over the celebrations, noting that Prime Minister Modi would virtually inaugurate the event from Bihar.

Birsa Munda: A Tribal Hero

Birsa Munda was a key figure in the Indian tribal freedom struggle, inspiring the Chotanagpur region’s tribal community to fight for independence. He led the “Ulgulan” rebellion against British rule, advocating for tribal rights and land ownership. Munda founded the Birsait faith, promoting the worship of a single god. Known as ‘Dharti Aba’ or the father of the earth, he passed away on June 9, 1900, at the age of 25. In 2021, the Central Government declared November 15 as ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ to honor his legacy.
