CBSE and NCB Launch ‘Say No to Drugs and Yes to Life’ Campaign at Modern School, Delhi

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) organized a ‘Say No to Drugs and Yes to Life’ campaign at Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. The event took place on Wednesday and aimed to educate students, teachers, and parents about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle.

The program featured engaging presentations and lectures on the causes, effects, and prevention strategies against substance abuse. Speakers shared key insights on prevention and highlighted the importance of raising awareness against this menace. The event also included an interactive Q&A session.

The offline program was live-streamed on the CBSE YouTube channel for all CBSE schools. The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, enacted in 1985, serves as India’s main legal framework for combating drug abuse and illegal trafficking. It imposes strict penalties, including life imprisonment or the death penalty for severe offenses involving large quantities of drugs. The Act also promotes the treatment and rehabilitation of drug-dependent individuals.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) enforces the Act and coordinates with various agencies. The CBSE is planning to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NCB to promote awareness of drug abuse in all CBSE-affiliated schools.

Key figures like Himanshu Gupta (Secretary, CBSE), Neeraj Kumar Gupta (DDG, NCB), N Mrinal (Additional Director, NCB), and Vibha Khosla (Principal, Modern School) attended the event.
