CBI Investigates NEET-UG Paper Leak at Oasis School in Hazaribagh

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is intensifying its probe into alleged irregularities in this year’s National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG). On Wednesday, a CBI team visited Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, and interrogated the school staff, including the principal.

Two individuals, identified as the principal and staff of Oasis School, were questioned at the CCL guest house in Charhi, Hazaribagh district. They were released after questioning. The Special CBI Court in Patna has sent two accused, Baldev Kumar Alias Chintu and Mukesh Kumar, to CBI remand for further interrogation.

Currently, 18 accused are in custody for questioning. The hearing in the NEET paper leak case was completed today by CBI Special Judicial Magistrate Harsh Vardhan Singh, who approved the CBI’s request to take the accused on remand.

Following the controversy, the Union Health Ministry postponed the NEET-PG 2024 exam, initially scheduled for June 23. Abhijat Sheth, President of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, stated that SOPs and protocols will be reviewed, and a new exam date will be announced next week.

The Bihar government has handed over the NEET-UG paper leak case to the CBI for a thorough investigation. The central government has also entrusted the CBI with the matter for a comprehensive probe.
