CBI Investigates Financial Irregularities and Tragic Incident at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is now handling the investigation into financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) handed over all related documents to the CBI on court orders.

In a separate case, Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the rape and murder of the trainee doctor, has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by the Sealdah Court, under CBI supervision until September 6, 2024.
The Supreme Court has ordered the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to take over security at the hospital amid ongoing protests in West Bengal. The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of the hospital on August 9.
