CBI Investigates Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in Excise Policy Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has announced that it is now focusing its investigation on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in relation to the excise policy case. CBI counsel Advocate DP Singh stated that new developments after June 4 led to Kejriwal’s arrest. The investigation into the roles of other accused individuals is nearly complete.

Earlier, on June 4, the Supreme Court was informed by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that the investigation would be concluded and a final complaint and charge sheet would be filed by July 3, 2024. The trial court will then proceed with the trial.

On Saturday, counsels for Manish Sisodia and K Kavitha alleged that the CBI is misrepresenting and misleading statements. The court noted that the investigation was complete on March 22, but the CBI’s status report contradicted this.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja extended the judicial custody of former deputy CM Manish Sisodia and other accused until July 15, 2024. The court also allowed Sisodia to sign documents related to his constituency and family expenditures. The hearing on the third supplementary chargesheet against BRS Leader K Kavitha was deferred to July 8, 2024, due to pagination errors in the chargesheet.
