CBI Investigates Customs Officials at Hyderabad Airport for Corruption

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against three Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad. The officials, including two Superintendents and one Inspector, are accused of conspiracy and corruption.

On March 16, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at RGIA intercepted two private individuals, including a loader, who were exchanging foreign currency worth Rs. 2,93,425 for Indian currency worth Rs. 4,04,380. The foreign currency was allegedly provided by the Customs officials in exchange for not imposing or imposing lesser customs duty on international passengers.

The CBI conducted searches at four locations, three in Hyderabad and one in Delhi, and recovered incriminating documents. The investigation is ongoing.
