CBI Investigates Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission for Favoritism in Job Selections

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case based on the Chhattisgarh government’s request, alleging favoritism in the selection process for Deputy Collectors and other senior posts by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) during the 2020-22 exams.

Allegations of Favoritism

The case involves the former Chairman, Secretary, and Controller of Examinations of CGPSC. They are accused of abusing their official positions by recruiting their sons, daughters, relatives, and acquaintances, who were allegedly ineligible candidates, for various government posts.

Specific Allegations

It is alleged that the son of the former Chairman was selected as Deputy Collector, his elder brother’s son as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. SP), his sister’s daughter as Labor Officer, the wife of his son as Deputy Collector, and his brother’s daughter-in-law as District Excise Officer. Additionally, the former Secretary allegedly got his son selected for the post of Deputy Collector.

Other senior officers of the Chhattisgarh government and political leaders are also accused of having their relatives selected for various posts such as Deputy Collectors and Deputy SPs.

CBI Actions

CBI is conducting searches at the residential premises of the former Chairman and Secretary of CGPSC, as well as at the official premises of the Controller of Examinations in Raipur and Bhilai. The investigation is ongoing.
