CBI Catches CGST Inspector Naveen Dhankar in Rajkot for Accepting Bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today apprehended Naveen Dhankar, an inspector of Central Goods and Service Tax (CGST) in Rajkot, for accepting a bribe from a complainant. Dhankar allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2.50 lakh from the manager of a private firm, threatening to cancel their GST number if they did not comply.

The CBI registered a case against Dhankar on Wednesday, following allegations that he claimed the firm was conducting illegal business and not actually transporting goods. The CBI laid a trap and caught Dhankar red-handed while accepting the bribe. Searches are currently being conducted at his premises in Rajkot.
