CBI Arrests Three in Raebareli Bribery Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three individuals, including the Chief Depot Material Superintendent (CDMS) and a Ward Officer from the Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli, along with a private person. They were caught for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs30,000 from a Mumbai-based company promoter. The bribe was for clearing consignments of safety spectacles supplied by the company.

The CBI registered a case against the accused after allegations surfaced that the officers demanded a bribe to approve items supplied by the complainant’s firm. The firm had responded to an online tender and dispatched the items as per the purchase order. Despite this, the complainant received persistent calls demanding a bribe. Ignoring these demands led to a rejection letter for one of the items on August 28, 2024.
CBI’s Action
The CBI set a trap, during which the complainant transferred Rs30,000 via G-pay to a private person’s account, as instructed by the accused. The public servants confirmed the bribe receipt, leading to their arrest. The accused were presented in Raebareli Court and later in the Special CBI Court in Mumbai, where they were remanded to police custody until October 11, 2024.
