CBI Arrests Key Conspirator Aman Singh in NEET-UG Exam Case in Patna

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has brought the arrested accused in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-UG case to the special CBI court in Patna, Bihar. The accused, Aman Singh, was arrested in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, and is suspected to be the key conspirator in the case.

This arrest is the seventh made by the CBI in connection with the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exams 2024. Earlier, the CBI arrested the owner of a private school in Godhra, Gujarat, and a marketing professional with a Hindi media organization. Additionally, two school officials, Dr. Ehsaan Ul Haq and Imtiaz Alam, were arrested in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Haq was the city coordinator for the NEET-UG exam 2024.

Two more arrests were made in Patna, where Manish Prakash and Ashutosh were found to be involved in transporting and accommodating students for the exam. The central government had earlier tasked the CBI with investigating the irregularities, leading to multiple FIRs related to paper leaks, impersonation, and cheating.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting the NEET-UG exam, is under scrutiny and facing protests. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear pleas regarding the alleged irregularities on July 8. The court had previously asked the NTA to address the concerns and ensure the integrity of the exam.

On June 13, the Centre and the NTA informed the Supreme Court that they had canceled grace marks for 1,563 candidates, offering them a retest on June 23. A total of 813 students appeared for the retest across seven centers.
