CBI Arrests in NEET-UG Paper Leak Case and Fake Admissions in Haryana Schools

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken significant actions against corruption in education. On Friday, the CBI registered a case against officials of the Primary Education Department in Haryana for allegedly faking the admission of 400,000 students in government schools between 2014 and 2016.

In another major development, the CBI arrested two more individuals, Dr. Ehsaan Ul Haq and Imtiaz Alam, in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak case. Both were working as the principal and vice principal of the Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Dr. Haq was also the city coordinator for the NEET-UG 2024 exam.

Earlier, the CBI had arrested two people from Patna, Bihar, named Manish Prakash and Ashutosh, for their involvement in the NEET-UG exam irregularities. Manish was responsible for transporting students, while Ashutosh provided safe house premises for them.

The NEET-UG exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is under scrutiny for alleged irregularities, leading to protests and legal challenges. The Supreme Court has sought a response from the NTA by July 8 regarding the alleged inconsistencies in the exam’s OMR sheet calculations.

President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the government’s commitment to a fair investigation and stringent punishment for those involved in the paper leaks. The NEET-UG exam is crucial for admissions into medical and related courses across India.
