Cash Reward for Information on Wanted Terrorist Sumama in Kashmir

Counter Intelligence Kashmir has announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh for information leading to the arrest of Sumama, a Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba commander. Sumama, also known as Illyas or Babar, is wanted for radicalizing and recruiting youths in Jammu and Kashmir through social media.

The police stated that Sumama uses encrypted messaging apps to recruit and motivate young people and employs Kashmiri netizens to transfer funds to terrorist organizations. The identity of informers will be kept secret.

On Saturday, the Indian Army reported the elimination of a terrorist and the recovery of warlike stores in an operation in Sopore, Baramulla. The region has seen a rise in terror attacks recently, including encounters in Doda and Udhampur.

Notably, Jammu and Kashmir will witness elections after a gap of 10 years, with the last assembly election held in 2014.
