In a thrilling match in Dusseldorf, Germany, England’s Bukayo Saka helped his team secure a crucial win against Switzerland in the EURO 2024 quarter-final. The match saw Breel Embolo score first for Switzerland in the 75th minute. However, Saka made a remarkable comeback by scoring in the 80th minute, pushing the game into extra time and eventually a penalty shootout.

England triumphed in the penalties with a 5-3 win, thanks to successful spot kicks by Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Ivan Toney, and Trent Alexander Arnold. Saka was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

After the match, Saka expressed his pride in the team’s resilience, saying, “It was special, special for how we fought back and to go to penalties as well. The last time we took a penalty shootout at the Euros, we all know what happened. I’m so proud of everyone that we got over the line.”

He also shared his personal journey of overcoming challenges, stating, “I have faith in God. To come back from something like that was really difficult but I used it to make me stronger and today I took the chance, so I’m happy.”

England is set to face the Netherlands in the semi-final match at the BVB Stadion Dortmund on Thursday.
