Building the Longest Bridge Over Narmada River for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train
New Delhi, India – August 23: A 1.4 km long bridge is being constructed over the Narmada River in Gujarat as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project. This bridge is the longest river bridge in the Gujarat section of the project and is progressing swiftly, according to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).
Engineering Marvel
The bridge features 25 well foundations, with five wells exceeding depths of 70 meters. The deepest well foundation measures 77.11 meters. Four of these wells will surpass the height of the Qutub Minar, which stands at 72.5 meters.
Challenges and Solutions
Managing the ‘Tilt’ and ‘Shift’ of the wells has been a significant challenge due to natural forces like tidal waves and high river flow. Despite these issues, the dedicated team has made remarkable progress, completing 19 out of 25 foundations.
