Building Collapse in Surat: Rescue Teams Search for Trapped People

A six-storey building collapsed in Surat, Gujarat, on Saturday. Rescue operations are being conducted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams.

Current Situation

Three bodies have been retrieved, and six to seven people are feared trapped in the debris. One injured person has been rescued.

Details of the Incident

The building, located in the Sachin area, had 30 flats, but only 4-5 were occupied at the time of the collapse. Many residents were either at work or sleeping after night shifts.

Rescue Efforts

Police Commissioner Anupam Gehlot stated that the police and fire brigade reached the spot immediately. A woman was successfully rescued from under the debris. The rescue teams are working tirelessly to find and save the remaining trapped individuals.
