Building Collapse in Bengaluru: PM Modi Announces Aid
In a tragic incident in the Horamavu Agara area of eastern Bengaluru, an under-construction building collapsed, resulting in the loss of six lives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow and announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The announcement was made via a post from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Details of the Incident
On Wednesday, one more body was recovered, bringing the total death toll to six. The deceased have been identified as Harman (26), Tripal (35), Mohd Sahil (19), Sathya Raju (25), and Shankar. Five individuals sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Bengaluru North Hospital and Hosmat Hospital. The injured include Jagadevi (45), Rasheed (28), Nagaraju (25), Ramesh Kumar (28), and Ayaj.
Legal Actions and Arrests
An FIR has been filed at Hennur Police Station against three accused: Munirajareddy, Mohan Reddy, and Elumalai. They face charges under various sections of the BNS and the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act. Bhuvan Reddy, son of Munirajareddy, and the contractor Muniyappa have also been arrested.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed his sorrow and emphasized the need for stricter regulations to prevent such incidents. He stated that construction without proper licenses would be halted and guidelines would be enforced to ensure buildings have certified occupancy certificates.
