Building Collapse in Bengaluru: Six Dead, Investigation Underway
In Bengaluru, Karnataka, a tragic incident occurred when an under-construction building collapsed in the Horamavu Agara area. The collapse has resulted in six fatalities, with the latest body being recovered on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Harman (26), Tripal (35), Mohd Sahil (19), Sathya Raju (25), and Shankar. Five individuals sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at local hospitals.
Authorities have rescued a total of 13 people, but several others are feared to be trapped under the debris. Lokayukta Justice BS Patil, along with Upa Lokayukta Justices KN Phaneendra and B Veerappa, visited the site to assess the situation. Justice Patil expressed sorrow over the incident and announced that a suo-moto case has been registered to investigate potential negligence by officials.
Justice Patil highlighted that no notice was issued by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) during the construction of the building’s four floors, indicating negligence. An FIR has been filed at Hennur Police Station against Munirajareddy, Mohan Reddy, and Elumalai, with charges under various sections of the BNS and the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act. Bhuvan Reddy, the son of Munirajareddy, and the contractor Muniyappa have been arrested in connection with the incident.
