New Operation Room for Pearl Cultivation

On Monday, Pramod Boro, the Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), inaugurated the ‘Operation Room for Surgical Procedures in Pearl Cultivation’ at Samabai Bhawan in Kokrajhar, Assam. This initiative, organized by the Department of Cooperation, aims to enhance the quality and yield of pearls in the region using advanced surgical techniques.

Support for Local Pearl Farmers

The Swrang Pear Processing & Allied Cooperative Society is leading this project, which will provide specialized training and support to local pearl farmers. This is expected to boost their skills and operations, contributing to economic growth in Bodoland.

Empowering Women and Economic Growth

During the inauguration, Pramod Boro emphasized the potential of large-scale pearl cultivation to empower women in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). He encouraged women to take advantage of these opportunities to improve their livelihoods. Boro also praised the Cooperation Department’s role and reiterated the BTC administration’s commitment to transparent and efficient governance.

Training and Future Plans

As part of the event, 16 trainees received certificates for completing their training in pearl cultivation techniques. Jayanta Kherkatary, the Council Head of the Department for Cooperation, discussed future plans for pearl cultivation in the region, highlighting the importance of the cooperative movement for sustainable growth.

Speakers at the event, including Nizam Uddin Taludar, DDM NABARD K Purkayastha, and the Branch Manager of Apex Bank, shared insights on the benefits of pearl cultivation for the local economy. The event was attended by various officials, trainees, and pearl cultivation enthusiasts.
