Two Arrested, Ten Cattle Seized

The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura successfully stopped a major cattle smuggling operation. They arrested two individuals and seized ten cattle along with a vehicle. The incident happened near the Malakar Basti BOP in the Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura district.

Details of the Incident

On Thursday night, BSF personnel noticed a suspicious Bolero vehicle near the India-Bangladesh border. The vehicle, with registration number TR05F/1797, was loaded with cattle. When the BSF approached, the vehicle tried to flee but broke down. The BSF intercepted the vehicle and detained the two smugglers onboard.

Mastermind Identified

The mastermind behind this smuggling network is Basa Mia from Kumarghat, Unakoti district. He is accused of smuggling Burmese cattle from Mizoram into Bangladesh through Tripura.

Arrests and Interrogation

The arrested individuals, Liakat Ali and Islam Uddin, are from the Sakaibari area in Dharmanagar. During interrogation, they revealed that the cattle belonged to Basa Mia and were being taken to Bangladesh.

Police Action

Dharmanagar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Himadri Sarkar, confirmed the seizure of ten cattle. A case has been registered at Dharmanagar Police Station based on the BSF’s complaint. The cattle have been sent to a local shelter, and the accused will be presented before the Dharmanagar District and Sessions Court on Saturday.
