In Tarn Taran, Punjab, the Border Security Force (BSF) troops found two packets of suspected heroin during a nighttime patrol on Sunday. The packets, weighing 1.146 kilograms, were discovered near Naushera Dhalla village at 9:45 pm. They were wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and secured with black tape, with an iron ring and two illuminating sticks attached.

The BSF spokesperson praised the troops’ keen observation and diligent efforts in preventing the smuggling attempt. A follow-up search in the area did not yield any additional findings.

Earlier, on September 13, the BSF and Punjab Police conducted a joint operation in Jodhawala, Fazilka, based on intelligence. This led to the arrest of two individuals, including a fugitive wanted under the NDPS Act. The suspects, from Jodhawala and Mamdot’s Changarai village, are now in police custody for further questioning about their drug syndicate links in Punjab and Pakistan.

On September 12, the BSF and Punjab Police recovered a drone carrying a large consignment of heroin in Tarn Taran. The drone, neutralized by BSF’s technical countermeasures, was found in a farming field near Gilpan village. The recovered heroin weighed 6.230 kilograms and was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with an improvised loop and two illuminating sticks.

The BSF’s ongoing efforts to curb drug smuggling via drones continue to show success, highlighting the efficiency of their intelligence network and swift action.
