BSF Meghalaya Seizes Clothing Worth Rs 12 Lakhs Near Bangladesh Border

On October 19, 2024, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya successfully seized clothing items valued at over Rs 12 lakhs. This operation took place in the West Garo Hills, a region close to the Bangladesh border. Acting on a specific tip-off, the vigilant troops of the 100th Battalion BSF intercepted the consignment as miscreants attempted to smuggle it into Bangladesh.

When challenged by the BSF, the smugglers fled, taking advantage of the dense vegetation and uneven terrain, leaving behind their bundles. Upon searching the area, the BSF troops discovered and seized the clothing items. These seized goods were subsequently handed over to the relevant customs office for further action.

In a related incident on October 17, the BSF Meghalaya apprehended a Bangladeshi national involved in sugar smuggling along the International Border in the East Khasi Hills district. This arrest followed observations made by the alert troops of the 4th Battalion BSF on October 15, who noticed suspicious movements by Bangladeshi smugglers carrying head loads near the border.
