BSF Catches Smugglers and Stops Illegal Border Crossings
New Delhi, India – The Border Security Force (BSF) has recently caught two smugglers and seized cattle and Phensedyl bottles at the international border. Additionally, BSF apprehended 11 Bangladeshi nationals trying to cross into India. These individuals were caught at the Bengal, Tripura, and Meghalaya borders.
According to a BSF press release, the smugglers and the seized items were found in West Bengal. The Bangladeshi nationals were caught while infiltrating into India, with two each from the Bengal and Tripura borders, and seven from the Meghalaya border.
The apprehended individuals are being questioned and will be handed over to the police for further legal action.
On August 10, an Operational Conference was held in Kolkata to strengthen border security ahead of Independence Day on August 15. The conference was chaired by the Additional Director General (ADG) of BSF, Eastern Command, and included Inspectors General from all frontiers under the Eastern Command. They reviewed the ongoing border situation amid current unrest in Bangladesh.
The conference focused on enhancing border control, security, and management. It was decided to continue close collaboration with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and maintain coordination with local authorities and agencies like the police and customs.
BSF has been holding multiple flag meetings with BGB to address mutual issues, especially to prevent atrocities on Indian nationals and minority communities in Bangladesh. The BSF stated that their personnel are working hard and monitoring the border round the clock with full dedication.
