BSF and BGB Leaders Meet in Shillong for Border Coordination Conference

The Border Security Force (BSF) of India and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) are holding a four-day Border Coordination Conference in Shillong, Meghalaya, from July 1 to July 4. The conference aims to discuss various issues of mutual interest for effective border management, including joint efforts against cross-border crime, pending development works in the border region, and measures to prevent illegal cross-border movement.

On July 1, 2024, the BGB delegation, led by Md Shazedur Rahman, Additional Director General and Region Commander of South East Region, Chattogram, was warmly welcomed by a senior BSF officer at ICP Dawki. The delegation then reached the Umpling BSF campus in Shillong for the conference.

The Indian delegation is headed by Patel Piyush Purusottam Das, IPS IG BSF Tripura Frontier, along with 12 members from the Meghalaya, Silchar, and Tripura Frontiers of BSF. Representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will also attend the conference.

The conference will conclude on July 4 with the signing of a Joint Record of Discussion (JRD) by the leaders of both delegations.
