BRS Leader T Harish Rao Criticizes Telangana Budget While Minister Reddy Praises It
BRS leader T Harish Rao has criticized the Telangana Budget 2024-25, stating that it did not include any of the six guarantees promised during elections. He mentioned that students, unemployed individuals, employees, farmers, and women are disappointed with the budget.
On the other hand, Telangana Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister Captain N Uttam Kumar Reddy welcomed the budget, presented by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. Reddy highlighted the budget’s vision to transform Hyderabad into a world-class city, with a substantial allocation of Rs 10,000 crores for development.
The budget includes plans to expand the Metro Rail by developing 78.4 km of extended corridors, connecting key areas like the Old City and Shamshabad Airport. Significant funds have also been allocated to strengthen civic bodies, including Rs 3,065 crore for GHMC, Rs 500 crore for HMDA, and Rs 3,385 crore for Metro Water Works.
Additionally, the budget proposes Rs 1,500 crores for the Musi Riverfront Development project, modeled after the Thames Riverfront Project in London, to rejuvenate the river and its surroundings. The establishment of HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Relief and Asset Protection Agency) is also planned to ensure effective disaster response.
