Brinda Karat Criticizes Raids on Jharkhand CM’s Aide Before Elections
In Ranchi, Jharkhand, CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat expressed her disapproval of the recent raids on Sunil Srivastava, a close aide of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. She questioned the timing of these raids, which occurred just before the state assembly elections, and urged the Election Commission to intervene. Karat accused the BJP of using government agencies like the ED and CBI to influence the elections, claiming that the BJP is resorting to such tactics because their rallies are not attracting people.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Manoj Pandey also questioned the motives behind the Income Tax department’s raids, suggesting that the BJP is frustrated by the popularity of Hemant and Kalpana Soren’s rallies compared to their own. The raids took place just days before the assembly elections, where the JMM, in alliance with Congress, RJD, and left parties, is competing against the BJP-led NDA alliance. The elections for the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly are scheduled for November 13 and 20, with results to be announced on November 23.
