Brinda Karat Congratulates Atishi as New Delhi Chief Minister

On Tuesday, Brinda Karat, a leader from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), extended her wishes to Atishi, the new Chief Minister of Delhi. Karat expressed her confidence that Atishi will listen to the voices of the people, especially the poor and workers, and work towards justice for all.

However, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj raised concerns about Atishi’s authority as CM. She questioned if Arvind Kejriwal, who resigned earlier, would still hold power without responsibilities. Swaraj urged Delhi’s residents to elect a BJP government in the upcoming elections.

Earlier in the day, Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Delhi CM after getting bail in the Delhi excise case. AAP MLAs then elected Atishi as their leader, and she staked her claim to form the government. AAP leader Gopal Rai mentioned that Kejriwal would only return as CM after receiving a renewed mandate from the people in the Assembly poll.

The current term of the Delhi Assembly will end on February 11, 2025, with the last election held on February 8, 2020. AAP leaders have suggested that the next Assembly polls in Delhi should coincide with those in Maharashtra and Jharkhand later this year.
