Brij Bhushan Singh Seeks Early Hearing in Delhi High Court

Former Wrestling Federation of India Chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, has requested an early hearing in the Delhi High Court to dismiss sexual harassment proceedings initiated by female wrestlers. The hearing is set for October 18, 2024. The court had previously scheduled the next hearing for January 13, 2025, after issuing notices to the state and police.

Singh, a former Member of Parliament, is contesting the allegations. He emphasized the need for a timely resolution due to the ongoing weekly progress of prosecution evidence in the trial court, which may conclude by January. His application was filed by Advocate Rajiv Mohan, with assistance from Advocates Rehan Khan and Rishabh Bhati.

Singh’s petition challenges the trial court proceedings related to the FIR filed by several women wrestlers, seeking to quash the FIR, chargesheet, and trial court’s order on framing charges. The trial court had found sufficient evidence to proceed with charges of sexual harassment, with the Delhi Police filing a chargesheet against Singh and Vinod Tomar based on the wrestlers’ complaints.
