Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh Criticizes Hooda Family Over Jantar Mantar Protests

Gonda (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 8: Former WFI President and BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has claimed that the 2023 Jantar Mantar protests were politically motivated. He criticized the Hooda family, stating that they will not be forgiven for their actions.

Comparing to Mahabharata

Singh said, “During the Mahabharata, the Pandavas had put Draupadi on stake and lost. The country has not forgiven the Pandavas for this till date. Similarly, the Hooda family will not be forgiven for the gamble they have played by putting the honour of our sisters and daughters at stake.”

Protests Led by Deepender Singh Hooda

Singh further claimed that the protests at Jantar Mantar were led by Deepender Singh Hooda and were not for the dignity of women. He said, “The sequence of activities goes against the Congress. The protest was not for dignity of women. On the first day, it looked like protests by players. Later one by one everyone left and a family was left along with a group of wrestlers led by Deepender Singh Hooda.”

Bajrang Punia Supports Vinesh Phogat

Wrestler Bajrang Punia extended his support to fellow wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who is contesting the Haryana Assembly elections from Julana. Punia said, “We had decided that only one of us would contest the election, and she is contesting. I stand with Vinesh…I will work in the organisation and carry out the responsibility given by the High Command.”

Punia denied any political motives behind the protests, stating, “We had nothing to do with politics at that time. We did not allow any politicians on our stage initially…It is their job to set a narrative…There is nothing like that.”

Upcoming Haryana Assembly Elections

The voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5, with the last date for filing nominations on September 12. The counting of votes will be held on October 8.
